PAGASA: 36 ˚C weather hits NCR, parts of Luzon
Metro Manila experienced its hottest day so far this year Tuesday afternoon, with temperatures going slightly above the 36-degree Celsius mark. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said 36.2-degree weather was recorded at the Science Garden in Quezon City at 2:10 p.m. "Sa Metro Manila, naitala natin 2:10 p.m., nasa 36.2 degrees [Celsius]," PAGASA forecaster Buddy Javier said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said temperatures were higher in Subic in Zambales at 36.6 degrees Celsius, and in Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija at 36.5 degrees Celsius. Javier also said their models indicate even hotter days ahead, due to the ridge of a high-pressure area. "Sa model namin tataas ang temperatura kasi ridge ng high-pressure area nakakaapekto sa Hilaga at Gitnang Luzon," he said. Earlier, PAGASA said temperatures were felt at 36 degrees Celsius in Makati City. "[Mga] 36 [degrees Celsius] po diyan sa Makati... Mas maraming building, mas mainit po," it said in response to netizens' queries on the temperature in Makati. Last Saturday, PAGASA recorded 35.9-degree Celsius weather in the National Capital Region. In contrast, PAGASA said Clark in Pampanga on Tuesday registered 34.7-degree Celsius weather. Clark had registered the highest temperature so far this year, at 38.4 degrees Celsius. PAGASA said Filipinos may have to bear the heat for at least one more month before the rainy season sets in. It also said the rainy season may come in during the second half of May at the earliest. “Expected po na papasok na ang tag-ulan around the second half of May,” it said in an earlier post on its Twitter account in response to queries from netizens. — KBK, GMA News
