Singson confident STL will eradicate jueteng

Ilocos Sur Luis “Chavit" Singson is confident that the Small Town Lottery (STL) will succeed in eradicating jueteng, an illegal numbers game. Singson said stopping jueteng operation and replacing it with a legal one would be better. “Mas mabuti na yun kasi makakatulong sa taumbayan," he said. But Singson said the government should continue its information drive and tell the public that gambling is bad. When asked if the government asked for his help in the operation of the STL, Singson replied “Ayaw ko nang maki-alam dyan." Singson admitted he used to operate jueteng and claimed to have delivered jueteng payoff to deposed President Joseph Estrada. –GMANews.TV
