Kuya Germs to NCCA: Wake up, Dolphy deserves the National Artist Award
Master showman German Moreno on Friday night appealed to the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) to confer the much-demanded National Artist Award on his friend, Dolphy. Moreno, popularly known as “Kuya Germs,” spoke to the news media gathered outside the Makati Medical Center, where he visited Dolphy. He said he was not able to speak to Dolphy, but stayed only in the viewing room outside the ICU. Kuya Germs insisted that the Dolphy, his contemporary in theater and movies, deserves the National Artist honor. Life achievement award, yun pa,” Kuya Germs said. Wala ngang tulugan eh,” he said, referring to the NCCA. He also pointed out that the demand for the award isn’t even coming from Dolphy’s family, but from the public. Moreno said. His message to the actor-comedian, and his longtime friend: “Pareng Dolph, walang tulugan, kaya ‘wag ka muna matutulog hangga’t maari.” — ELR, GMA News
