Dolphy 'Day of Remembrance' not a non-working holiday — Malacañang
The Day of Remembrance on Friday to honor the late Comedy King Rodolfo "Dolphy" Vera Quizon is not a non-working holiday, a Malacañang official clarified late Thursday.
Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte tweeted the clarification hours after announcing President Benigno Aquino III's proclamation about Friday.
"Nice try, folks. Tomorrow is NOT a non-working holiday," Valte said on her Twitter account.
Earlier Thursday evening, Valte issued a statement announcing Aquino had proclaimed July 13 a National Day of Remembrance for Dolphy.
Dolphy died Tuesday night at the Makati Medical Center at age 83, weeks before he was to turn 84.
President Aquino and some Cabinet members paid their respects to Dolphy at the Heritage Park in Taguig City late Thursday afternoon.
"The President issued the proclamation in recognition of how the nation deeply feels the passing of Dolphy. In the proclamation, the President cited Dolphy as a man who will live on in Philippine cultural history—and in the hearts of many of his countrymen," Valte said in her statement. — ELR, GMA News
