DOLE to hold 59 job fairs this August

After staging 55 job fairs in 12 regions last July, the Department of Labor and Employment has planned 59 job fairs nationwide this month.

 

DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said the job fairs seek to provide year-round opportunities for job seekers and help employers find qualified workers.

 

"We have 59 job fairs coming this month, or an average of two per day. These job fairs will be conducted in 13 regions so our job seekers have to watch out for these fairs," said Baldoz.

 

She said August's job fairs will include mega-job fairs, city and municipal fairs, in-house, mini, and barangay job fairs to be conducted in cooperation with local government units (LGUs) and the public employment service offices (PESOs) supervised by the Bureau of Local Employment (BLE) and DOLE regional offices.

 

The year-round job fair schedules and venues are already posted online on the government's www.phil-job.net portal, she added.

 

But she maintained the best way for an applicant to land a job in these fairs is to "first acquire the appropriate qualification or skills to enable him or her to match the available opportunities provided by employers.”
