Protesters stage ‘Black Friday’ protest in Luneta

Members of the Black and White Movement on Friday staged its weekly “silent protest" at the Rizal Park in Manila. Led by former members of the Arroyo administration, members of the group wore black shirt with “Patalsikin na! Now na!" printed on it. Conspicuously absent were uniformed policemen who arrested former social welfare secretary Corazon “Dinky" Soliman in another “silent protest" Friday last week on Roxas Boulevard. “This is our peaceful way of telling President Arroyo to resign now. Kailangan nating manindigan, kailangan na nating itama ang mali," Soliman said. Soliman is still facing illegal assembly charges before a Manila court for leading the protest last week. Only about 70 people participated in the protest by walking from near the Manila Hotel and the US Embassy to the monument of national hero Jose Rizal. “We were just like other Filipinos who flocked here. It’s a park, isn’t it?" said Armin Luistro, a convenor of the Black and White Movement. Activist singer Leah Navarro joined the group and took pictures. – GMANews.TV
