Palace: Robredo’s funeral day, Aug. 28, a special non-working holiday in Naga City

The day Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo will be buried on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, is a special non-working holiday in Naga City, Camarines Sur, Malacañang announced Friday.
According to Bulletin No. 8 of the Committee on Funeral Arrangements and Burial – tasked by the Palace to handle matters on Robredo’s interment – President Benigno Aquino III signed Proclamation no. 461 designating Naga City a special non-working day so the people can participate in Robredo’s funeral.
“Earlier, the City Government of Naga issued a resolution requesting the Office of the President to declare August 28, 2012, the day of Secretary Robredo’s interment, a non-working day,” the Palace bulletin read.
“This is to allow the people of Naga to participate in the State Funeral and pay their last respects to their beloved former mayor and Secretary of the Interior,” it added.
Robredo’s funeral mass will commence at 10:00 a.m. at the Basilica Minore de Nuestra Señora de Peñafrancia.
Full military honors will be rendered at 11:00 a.m. and by the conclusion of Robredo’s state funeral at Funeraria Imperial, where his remains will be cremated.
Robredo’s remains were brought to Malacañang Kalayaan Hall on Friday to lie in state until Sunday, before being flown back to his hometown. — VS, GMA News
