Janelle Manahan seeks adjustments in govt protection

(Updated 5:25 p.m.) Following the dismissal of the criminal complaint against Ramgen Revilla's sister and brother-in-law, the girlfriend of the slain actor has sought certain "adjustments" in the protection currently being provided to her by the government. Accompanied by her counsel, lawyer Argee Guevarra, at the Department of Justice, Janelle Manahan said threats to her life remain, almost a year after Ramgen was killed inside his Parañaque home by a lone assailant. Manahan survived the attack.    Guevarra refused to disclose what kind of adjustments they would be seeking from the Witness Protection Program of the DOJ.  Guevarra likewise reiterated that they will appeal before the DOJ the dismissal of the murder and frustrated murder complaint against Ramgen's sister Gail Bautista and her husband, Hiro Furuyama. Out of pity?  Both Manahan and Guevarra said that prosecutors handling could have dismissed the complaint out of awa (pity).  "Noong time na nandon kami sa prosecutor's office, sinabi ng piskal kung pwede na yung isa... tama na yung isa kasi kawawa naman daw yung pamilya... kawawa naman daw kung lahat kakasuhan so parang enough na yung isa lang... so na ancticipate na namin na mangyayari yung ganito," Manahan told reporters.  

But Guevarra quickly stressed that, "Hindi po ang prosecutors ang kaaway namin dito," adding that their camp sees no need to have the prosecutors handling the case replaced.

 

He said they would just be preparing to file a petition for review before the DOJ as they see no reason to filie a motion for reconsideration with prosecutor's office in Parañaque.
