Resigned DILG exec Puno shows up for Senate probe
Resigned Interior Undersecretary Rico Puno on Friday showed up for the Senate's investigation on him.
Puno, however, refused any media interviews, saying he will answer questions after the day's hearing.
Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago had called the probe in her capacity as chair of the Senate committee on Constitutional amendments, revision of codes and laws.
Santiago earlier said the probe will discuss whether an undersecretary should have his own area of responsibility within the DILG.
She said she also wants to look into the allegations that Puno and several police officers tried to enter the condominium unit of the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo a day after Robredo died in a plane crash in Masbate.
The house helper in the condominium in Quezon City supposedly phoned the late Interior secretary’s wife, Leni, when Puno’s party allegedly tried to get inside the unit.
President Benigno Aquino III had said that he had asked Puno to secure Robredo's office.
Aside from this, Santiago said she also plans to tackle all the controversies surrounding Puno. — Kimberly Jane Tan/RSJ, GMA News
