Comelec asks tweeps to report on COC filing

As the filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) for the 2013 elections started Monday, the Commission on Elections asked Twitter users to report on the conduct of the filing in their respective areas.

Comelec spokesman James Arthur Jimenez, in a post on his Twitter account, said this will help the poll body build a bigger picture of the conduct of the filing of COCs.

Jimenez advised Twitter users to use the unified hashtag #COCfiling in posting their tweets.

"Help us build up a complete picture of the filing of COCs nationwide by tweeting reports with the tag #COCfiling," he said.

The Comelec will accept COCs from candidates running for senatorial and local posts in the May 2013 elections until 5 p.m. of October 5.

Meanwhile, the Comelec's Education and Information Division reported the filing of COCs at the Comelec main office is off to a good but noisy start.

"#COCfiling off to a good start, although noise levels outside the Palacio del Gobernador are steadily rising," it said. — RSJ, GMA News
