NDRRMC on blue alert as Tropical Storm 'Prapiroon' approaches
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council is on blue alert as Tropical Storm Prapiroon moved closer toward the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Monday morning.
In its 6 a.m. update, the NDRRMC said its operations center is still on blue alert status, even as PAGASA forecast Prapiroon to enter the PAR between 8 and 11 a.m.
NDRRMC head Benito Ramos earlier said a blue alert means at least 50 percent of government forces should be at their posts at any time.
PAGASA forecaster Meno Mendoza earlier said Prapiroon will be locally codenamed Nina once it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said all major dams in Luzon had their gates closed as of 6 a.m. Monday.
It said Magat Dam in the Ifugao-Isabela area closed its gates at 10 a.m. Sunday. –KG, GMA News
