Arroyo caught on camera without neck brace

Former President Gloria Arroyo was caught on camera not wearing her neck brace while walking inside the compound of a government hospital where she is being "detained."

 

But Arroyo, in a post on her Twitter account Wednesday morning, said her doctor told her not to wear her neck brace all the time.

 

"(My) doctor reminded me not to wear my neck brace all the time to prevent atrophy. But my neck hurts after a while," Arroyo said.

 

Since last Thursday, Arroyo had been detained at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City after the Sandiganbayan ordered her arrested on plunder charges.

 

On Tuesday, Aksyon TV reported Arroyo was caught on camera walking inside the VMMC, without her neck brace.

 

It said that when the former leader saw media cameras, she "went inside and then came out" again, this time wearing the neck brace.

 

Arroyo presently faces plunder charges for irregularities at the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. Before her arrest last Thursday, she had been out on bail since late July.

 

But she has been going to the VMMC for treatment to correct an anatomical condition. She was also brought to the VMMC last Thursday for dehydration.

 

VMMC head Dr. Nona Legaspi said last Friday that while Arroyo has overcome the dehydration, she still shows a phobia for eating or drinking, as if afraid she might choke. –KG, GMA News
