Pacquiao gives away pricey watches to fellow solons

It’s an early Christmas gift from Ninong Manny.

Former world boxing champ and Saranggani Rep. Manny Pacquiao on Wednesday gave away pricey watches from a brand he endorses to his fellow lawmakers.

Rose Tamayo, Pacquiao’s media relations officer, said the watches were “limited edition” TechnoMarine watches with an extra strap bearing the Filipino boxer’s signature.

“Ganyan naman talaga si MP [Manny Pacquiao]. Sadyang mapagbigay lang at mahilig magbigay ng regalo,” she said in a phone interview Thursday.

Tamayo, who herself received a similar gift from Pacquiao, said the watch costs “between P40,000 to P50,000.”

She added that Pacquiao — the richest incumbent congressman with a net worth of P1.1 billion last year — also gave away these similar watches to close family members and friends before he left General Santos City.

Among the lawmakers who confirmed receiving a gift from the boxing sensation were Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr., ACT Teachers party-list Rep. Antonio Tinio, Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Teodoro Casiño, and Ifugao Rep. Teddy Brawner Baguilat.

San Juan Rep. Joseph Victor Ejercito even posted a picture of the wristwatch from Pacquiao on his Twitter page.

Some House members, such as House Majority Leader Neptali Gonzales II and Kabataan party-list Rep. Raymond Palatino, said that they have not received a wristwatch from Pacquiao. — Andreo Calonzo/RSJ, GMA News
