Murdered model laid to rest amid cries for justice

Amid cries for justice from her relatives and friends, murdered model and TV talent Julie Ann Rodelas was laid to rest in Las Piñas City before noon on Saturday.
Relatives and friends released white flowers as Rodelas, 20, was buried at the Golden Haven Memorial Park in Las Piñas, radio dzBB’s Allan Gatus reported.

Many sympathizers attended the burial, crowding a portion of the cemetery as Rodelas was buried, nearly two weeks after she was abducted and then shot dead last Nov. 6, the report said.

The sympathizers at the burial included representatives from the Quezon City police and anti-crime groups.

A separate report on "Balitanghali" showed members of the Quezon City Police District, whose investigators cracked the case, carrying Rodelas' coffin.

The report said the police also made a promise not to abandon the case until those responsible are brought to justice.

Meanwhile, Rodelas’ brother Alvin told radio dzBB report that they remain hopeful the two suspects who are still at large will eventually be caught.

He said their family will not stop fighting for justice for Julie Ann.

Earlier Saturday, family and friends attended a Mass for Rodelas at the Mary Queen of Apostles parish church in Parañaque City.

The police have so far arrested suspected masterminds Althea Altamirano and Fernando Quiambao Jr., and charged them with murder.
Quezon City Assistant City Prosecutor Alessandro Jurado also included “suspect-turned-witness” Jaymar Waradji in the charges.

The investigation had showed Altamirano wanted to have Quiambao help her teach Rodelas a lesson, supposedly because Rodelas spread rumors that Altamirano already had two children.

The police are also preparing rape charges against some of the suspects. - VVP, GMA News
