Cebu Pacific cancels two flights between Manila, Capiz due to bad weather

Citing bad weather, air carrier Cebu Pacific on Tuesday canceled at least two flights between Manila and Capiz province.

The Civil Aeronautics Board at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport said Cebu Pacific canceled Flights 5J-373 and 5J-374, radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported.

Flight 5J-373 was from Manila to Roxas City and 5J-374 was the return flight from Roxas City to Manila, the report said.

Tuesday's flight cancellations came shortly after areas in the Visayas and Mindanao were placed under storm signals due to Tropical Storm Quinta (Wukong).

PAGASA's 11 a.m. advisory indicated Quinta is expected to be in the vicinity of Leyte, and in the vicinity of Coron, Palawan by Thursday morning. On Friday morning, it is forecast to be 450 km west of Coron, Palawan.

For its part, the Japan Meteorological Agency's 9:15 a.m. update said Quinta was moving west-northwest at 20 kph.

JMA said Quinta had maximum winds of 35 knots near the center (64.82 kph) and gustiness of up to 50 knots (92.6 kph).

Also, JMA's outlook indicated Quinta may intensify further in the next six hours, with winds of 40 knots (74.08 kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 60 knots (111.12 kph). — RSJ, GMA News
