Butuan flood alert up to level 2; more flights canceled

Disaster management officials in Butuan City in Mindanao activated evacuation centers Thursday morning after the water level at Agusan River rose further.

A report by state-run Philippine Information Agency said that as of 10 a.m., the water level at Agusan River reached 2.5 meters above sea level.

"Flood Alert Level 2 (Code Yellow) is now in effect in Butuan City. All emergency units and evacuation centers are now activated," PIA-Caraga said in a post on its Facebook page, citing a report from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

It said the public may call 085-2250014 or 0946-2369628 in emergencies.

Meanwhile, at least four more flights with destination points in Mindanao were canceled on Thursday due to bad weather.

The Department of Transportation and Communications said two of the flights included those of Air Philippines:

- 2P-967: Manila to Butuan
- 2P-968: Butuan to Manila

Cebu Pacific also announced the cancellation of two flights, aside from those specified by the DOTC earlier:

- 5J-869: Cebu to Ozamiz
- 5J-870: Ozamiz to Cebu
