Cebu Pacific cancels four flights due to Cagayan de Oro airport runway problems

Air carrier Cebu Pacific on Wednesday canceled at least four domestic flights due to problems with the runway lights of the Cagayan de Oro airport.

The cancellations on Wednesday brought to 16 the number of flights scrapped since Monday due to the airport's "inoperative" Runway Threshold Identifier Lights (RTILs).

"The RTIL is a key airport instrument for nighttime operations," Cebu Pacific said on its Twitter account.

Cebu Pacific said the canceled flights for the day included:

  • 5J-395/396: Manila to Cagayan de Oro and back
  • 5J-216: Davao to Cagayan de Oro, and
  • 5J-210: Cagayan de Oro to Cebu.

Cebu Pacific said it had been contacting affected guests, and arranged for extra flights from Manila to Cagayan de Oro and back the next day.

"Aside from re-accommodation on the extra flight, options include rebooking or rerouting for travel within 30 days with no penalties, full travel fund or full refund," it added.

Cebu Pacific said passengers may call its reservations hotline (02) 7020-888 or (032) 230-8888 for details on their re-accommodation.

"We hope for your understanding as these cancellations were beyond the airline's control. Your safety is always our top priority," it said. - VVP, GMA News
