Wife of Rasuman pyramiding scam brains arrested in QC
The wife of the suspected mastermind of a ring running an alleged pyramiding scam was arrested Wednesday night, police said early Thursday.
Pasay City police served an arrest warrant on Princess Tomawis Rasuman, wife of Jachob "Coco" Rasuman, in Quezon City, radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported.
"Meron tayong informant na na-ID natin ang subject, gumawa tayo ng team para maaresto ang suspect," Pasay City police chief Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Llorca said in an interview on dzBB radio.
He said Princess Tomawis Rasuman is the subject of an arrest warrant.
Llorca said they brought her to the Pasay City police headquarters to wait for other victims of the pyramiding scam to come and file formal charges against her. An updated dzBB report said Llorca has requested the Southern Police District for anti-riot police, as some complainants started going to the Pasay City police headquarters.
Warrants
Last January, new arrest warrants were issued against Jachob Rasuman and seven other officials of the investment firm NAD Auto Opinion Corp.
The Department of Justice had filed two counts of syndicated estafa charges against Rasuman and company for fleecing victims of at least P20 million in 2011 and 2012.
Rasuman's ring was accused of promising victims interest payment of 50 to 100 percent. Rasuman himself was arrested last November.
Princess Tomawis was among those charged, along with Bashir Rasuman Sr., Bashir Rasuman Jr., Emma Rasuman, Sultan Jerry Tomawis, Jeremiah "Maning" Rasuman and Jerome Rasuman. — RSJ, GMA News
