Wife of pyramid scam mastermind Rasuman turned over to NBI

Amid tight security, the wife of the suspected mastermind of a pyramiding scam in Mindanao was transferred Saturday to the National Bureau of Investigation headquarters in Manila. The Pasay City police brought Princess Tomawis Rasuman to the NBI headquarters along Taft Avenue shortly before noon, radio dzBB's Mao dela Cruz reported. Pasay City police chief Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Llorca ordered Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams to escort Mrs. Rasuman. A separate report on "Balitanghali" said the NBI vowed no special treatment for Mrs. Rasuman, the wife of Jachob "Coco" Rasuman, suspected mastermind of a pyramid investment scam that victimized residents in Mindanao. On Wednesday night, Pasay City police served an arrest warrant on Mrs. Rasuman in Quezon City, then brought her to Pasay City police headquarters. Victims of the scam flocked to Pasay City police headquarters as soon as they learned of her arrest. On Thursday, at least 50 victims confronted Mrs. Rasuman and asked that she give them their money back. An earlier dzBB report said the Pasay police had briefly considered transferring Mrs. Rasuman to the Southern Police District headquarters, which may be more secure. — LBG, GMA News
