3 traffic cops face probe for 'escorting' candidate's caravan

At least three Pasay City traffic policemen are in hot water after they were caught escorting a party-list campaign caravan in Metro Manila Tuesday. Radio station dzBB reported Wednesday that the traffic policemen, known as "chocolate boys" for their brown uniforms, went on leave but used their uniforms and motorcycles. It did not immediately identify the three pending an ongoing investigation, but cited police reports showing witnesses spotted them escorting the "Assalam" party list caravan. The caravan passed through areas of Pasay City Tuesday, but also went to Makati and Manila Cities. Investigation showed that the three had filed leaves of absence before their "escort job" but used government property such as uniform and city government motorcycles. Meanwhile, two policemen are now being investigated for firing their handguns and wounding at least three persons in Quezon City before dawn Wednesday. Injured in the incident were J.R. Guday, 21, who was hit in the chest; Jun-Jun, 23, who was hit in the leg; and a certain Franz, who was hit in the leg. Facing an investigation is PO2 Primo Mozo of the PNP Aviation Security Group, who claimed the three were making trouble at a restaurant at the corner of Columbia and West Point Streets in Cubao, Quezon City. He said the three were causing a commotion and he tried to pacify them but they were too unruly, forcing him to fire his weapon. Also being investigated is PO3 Roger Dulay of the Quezon City Police District Station 7, who said he was just "responding" to the incident. - GMANews.TV
