PAGASA: Heat may 'feel like' 40-41 degrees Celsius in NCR

Metro Manila will have to brace for another scorching Friday, with temperatures "feeling" like 40 to 41 degrees Celsius, state weather forecasters said. PAGASA forecaster Fernando Cada said temperatures will reach up to 36 degrees Celsius, but there is an "init (heat) factor" due to the absence of winds and high humidity. "Dahil sa alinsangan at mainit na temperature at halos wala tayong hangin na malakas, light to moderate lamang, talagang mainit talaga naramdaman sa panahon kahapon," he said in an interview on dzBB radio. On Thursday, he said temperatures "felt like" 40 to 41 degrees Celsius because of this "init factor." Such weather is likely again on Friday. On Thursday, PAGASA said temperatures in Metro Manila reached a high of 36.0 degrees Celsius. For Friday and Saturday, it said temperatures may again reach 36 degrees Celsius. Maximum temperatures for Tuguegarao, Angeles and Olongapo Cities on Friday and Saturday may reach 34 degrees Celsius, PAGASA added. Friday outlook For Friday, PAGASA said the tail-end of a cold front is affecting extreme northern Luzon. "Cagayan Valley and the provinces of Ilocos, Apayao and Aurora will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms," it said in its 5 a.m. bulletin. It added Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be "partly cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening." Also, moderate to occasionally strong winds from the northeast to east will prevail over extreme northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to occasionally rough. Meanwhile, light to moderate winds coming from the east to southeast will prevail over Visayas and over the rest of Luzon and from the northeast over Mindanao with slight to moderate seas. — DVM, GMA News
