No-vacation policy for PNP starts


Starting Friday, the Philippine National Police canceled all leaves for its 140,000 personnel in time for the May 13 elections. The no-leave policy, which will last until May 16, is part of the PNP's Oplan Last Two Weeks, radio dzBB's Tuesday Niu reported. PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima also said the decision to declare full alert will depend on the recommendation of the PNP Intelligence Group. Under Oplan Last Two weeks, an additional 30,000 PNP personnel will be deployed to election hot spots to ensure safe and peaceful polls. Of these 30,000 personnel, 18,000 are uniformed while 12,000 will be PNP recruits recalled from training camps. On May 13, Filipinos will go out to vote for 12 senators and party-list groups, as well as local candidates and House of Representatives members. — LBG, GMA News
