PAGASA: Rain over Mindanao; humidity to bring NCR heat to 39 degrees Celsius


Light to moderate rain may fall over parts of Mindanao even as Metro Manila will remain hot on Tuesday, with temperatures "feeling like" it is 39 degrees Celsius, state weather forecasters said. PAGASA forecaster Samuel Duran said that Metro Manila's forecast temperature for Tuesday is between 25 to 35 degrees Celsius. "Pero kung isasama natin ang relative humidity, maaring ang temperature range na maranasan natin, 38 to 39 degrees Celsius," Duran said in an interview on dzBB radio. He noted Metro Manila had sweltered through 35.5 degree Celsius weather Monday. Meanwhile, PAGASA's extended outlook noted Olongapo and Angeles Cities in Central Luzon may experience up to 37 degrees Celsius. It said the two cities may have a temperature range for Tuesday of 24 to 37 degrees Celsius, compared to Tuguegarao City's forecast range of 24 to 35 degrees Celsius. Tuesday outlook PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said the inter-tropical convergence zone is affecting southern Mindanao, while the easterlies or warm winds from the east are affecting the eastern section of Luzon and Visayas. "The regions of Soccsksargen and Zamboanga Peninsula will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening," it said. PAGASA also said moderate to occasionally strong winds from the northeast to east will prevail over northern and Central Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to occasionally rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas. — DVM, GMA News
