De Venecia’s niece tops bar exam

A niece of Speaker Jose de Venecia topped the 2005 bar examinations. Joan de Venecia, a student of the University of the Philippine’s College of Law, got an 87.2 percent grade and topped the bar. Jomini Nazareno of the Ateneo de Manila University took the second place with an 86.4 percent grade. The others in the top ten are Sheryll May Tanquilut (Ateneo, 85.95%), Nyerson Dexter Tualla (MLQU, 85.45%), Tamsin Rey Lucila (UP, 85.35%), Gladys Gervacio (Perpetual Help College, 85.3%), Claudine Orocio-Isorena (UP, 85.2%), Pedro Jose Bernardo (Ateneo, 85.05%), Dexter Calizar (PLS, 84.7%) and Johnson Ong (FEU 84.65%). Only 30 percent of those who took the 2005 bar examinations passed, the highest in the last 10 years.
