Five PHL schools among top 300 universities in Asia

At least five Philippine universities – University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, University of Santo Tomas, De La Salle University and University of Southeastern Philippines – made it to the list of Asia’s top 300 educational institutions as compiled by education network Quacquarelli Symmonds.

QS University Rankings: Asia 2013 ranked the schools according to nine indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student, citations per paper, international faculty, international students, papers per faculty, inbound exchange, and outbound exchange.

State-run University of the Philippines in Diliman ranked 67th on the list, while Ateneo de Manila University placed 109th and the University of Santo Tomas at 150th place.

On the other hand, De La Salle University in Manila was among those ranked 151st to 160th and the University of Southeastern Philippines in Davao City included among those in 251st to 300th place.

Except for UP Diliman, which placed a notch higher, and USEP, which did not move on its place, the Philippine universities did not fare as well as last year.

In 2012, ADMU ranked 86th; UST 148th; and DLSU 142nd.
