UPCAT examinees reminded: No mobile phones, gadgets during exams

No mobile phones or any calculating devices will be allowed during the University of the Philippines College Admission Test on August 3 and 4.

The UP System issued this reminder Friday to students who will take the admission exams, saying those caught with such devices may face disqualification.

"Reminder: The use of cellphones and/or calculating devices during the test is strictly prohibited," it said on its Twitter account.

A link on the tweet led to a general information page about the UPCAT that indicated using cell phones and/or calculating devices during the test "is strictly prohibited and can be a cause for disqualification."

It also reminded exam-takers to bring only:

- Test Permit
- two good quality pencils
- a sharpener
- a rubber eraser
- snacks.

"The test administration will last about five hours," the UP System said.

Also, the UP reminded UPCAT takers to be at the test centers by 6:30 a.m. for the morning session or by 12:30 p.m. for the afternoon session.

After the tests, examinees can check the UPCAT website for announcements and posting of UPCAT Results, likely around February 2014.

The UP System said a list of qualifiers from an examinee's school will be sent to the principal. Examinees will also be sent individual notices. — LBG, GMA News
