NDRRMC: Death toll from Labuyo rises to 6, damage at P816-M
The death toll from Typhoon Labuyo (Utor) rose to six even as the damage to property went up to P816.504 million as of early Wednesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.
In its 5 a.m. update, the NDRRMC said the two latest fatalities were fishermen from Aurora province whose bodies were found earlyTuesday.
"Pinaghinalaang nalunod ito dahil nakita sa dalampasigan. Ang kwento, itong dalawa mangingisda, niyayaya ng taga-Casiguran na sumilong. Ayaw iwanan ang de-motor na bangka. Natakot baka nakawin," NDRRMC spokesman Maj. Reynaldo Balido said in an interview on dzBB radio.
He identified the two fatalities as Samson Dimante and Romeo Gonzales.
Aside from the six dead, the NDRRMC said that as of 5 a.m., six were injured, while five are still missing.
The NDRRMC update also said Labuyo had affected at least 41,163 families or 186,378 people in 374 villages in 77 towns and five cities in 16 provinces.
Of these, 3,296 families or 15,011 people are in 64 evacuation centers.
Some 27 roads and 13 bridges were damaged while power was interrupted in 13 areas and communication facilities disrupted in three areas.

Property damage, flooded areas
Damage to property was estimated at P816,504,454.66 in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and Cordillera.
This included P115,721,300 in infrastructure and P700,783,154.66 in agriculture.
The NDRRMC said at least 66 villages in Central Luzon were flooded as of 5 a.m. Wednesday. These include:
- Nueva Ecija, 3 villages
- Bataan, 1 village
- Bulacan, 26 villages
- Pampanga, 14 villages
- Zambales, 22 villages
Under a state of calamity are Candelaria in Aurora; Sta. Cruz in Quirino; and Masinloc in Zambales. —KG, GMA News
