DFA: Passport appointments in NCR rescheduled due to floods

(Updated 8:58 a.m.) - Passport applicants in Metro Manila with appointments for Monday, August 19, may be accommodated on later dates until Aug. 30, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.

DFA spokesman Raul Hernandez said there is no work at the DFA on Monday, following Malacañang's order to suspend work in government offices due to bad weather.

"No work at DFA today. All those with passport appointments in DFA NCR Offices today will be accommodated when work resumes until 30 August," Hernandez said on his Twitter account.

But Hernandez said those seeking accommodation until Aug. 30 should bring proof of their appointment for Monday.

"Passport applicants are requested to bring proof of appointment scheduled today when applying for passport when work resumes until 30 August," he said.

The DFA posted a similar announcement on its Facebook page, where it explained that the Palace had ordered the suspension of work in government offices.

"Ang lahat ng may appointment sa pagkuha ng pasaporte sa araw na ito, ika-19 ng Agosto, ay maaaring pumunta sa mga tanggapan ng DFA mula bukas, ika-20 ng Agosto hanggang ika-30 ng Agosto (maliban na lamang sa mga araw ng linggo o piyesta opisyal)," it said.

POEA offices

Meanwhile, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration said its Metro Manila offices will be closed.

"POEA's central office and satellite offices in Trinoma, SM Manila and Duty Free Paranaque will be closed. But all other POEA Luzon offices will be open," POEA Administrator Hans Cacdac told GMA News Online via text message Monday.

Earlier Monday, Malacañang suspended work at all government offices in Metro Manila except those directly involved in disaster management and response.

Since Sunday night, heavy rain had fallen over Metro Manila and other areas in Luzon.
