LTO reminds motorists: Commemorative plates expired
Commemorative plates are now invalid and should no longer be displayed, the Land Transportation Office reminded motorists on Friday.
In an advisory posted on the Department of Transportation and Communications' Twitter account, the LTO said motorists still using such plates will be apprehended.
"As of 31 July 2013, all previous authorities to use commemorative plates have already expired. Therefore, all commemorative plates installed in motor vehicles are invalid and should no longer be displayed," it said.
"Motorists using expired commemorative plates will be apprehended," it added.
Some motorists had been noted to install commemorative plates of government agencies instead of the regular license plates on their vehicles.
These plates include those of the Philippine National Police and National Bureau of Investigation.
The NBI as early as September 2012 had asked motorists to remove the expired NBI 75th anniversary commemorative plates. —KG, GMA News
