DBM chief: Govt still fine-tuning performance-based bonus
The Department of Budget and Management on Saturday admitted the government is still fine-tuning the performance-based bonus for government workers.
But DBM Secretary Florencio Abad maintained there is no turning back for the performance-based bonus, which he said is a change from the past system where bonuses are uniform.
“Siyempre bagong proseso ito, hindi natin ma-perfect sa isang upuan lang. Ang mahalaga 'di pwede bumalik sa dati," Abad said on government-run dzRB radio.
He said the Palace is likely to stick it out with the performance-based bonus, so government workers will have an incentive to work well.
Abad likened the situation to a classroom where those who studied hard and slept late to concentrate on their lessons get a bigger bonus than those who did not.
Such a system will also spur the lazier workers to shape up, he said.
“Dapat kilalanin ang nagsikap, nagtrabaho at nagpupuyat para makapagbigay ng mabuting serbisyo sa mamamayan (We should give credit to those who worked hard so everyone will have an incentive to serve the public better),” he said. — LBG, GMA News
