Posters, tarps plastered on walls, trees as barangay poll campaign period starts
Posters and tarpaulins were plastered over walls, pedicabs and even trees as the campaign period for the Oct. 28 barangay elections kicked off on Friday.
In Manila, such campaign materials were visible in the San Andres area early Friday morning, radio dzBB's Rodil Vega reported.
The report said even photocopied posters were placed on some trees in the area.
Earlier Friday, Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. reminded candidates to abide by the campaign rules, including limiting the placement of their materials in common areas.
"Ang paglagay ng poster, may common poster area. Hindi pwede sa public places," Brillantes said in an interview on dzBB radio.
Comelec spokesman James Arthur Jimenez also reminded the public to send photos of possible campaign violations to the poll body's Twitter account @COMELEC.
He urged them to use the hashtag #SumbongKo.
"When sending pics to #SumbongKo to @COMELEC kindly indicate date and place where the pic was taken. It'll help a lot," Jimenez said.
