Senator Recto's mom passes away in Cambodia

Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto's mother, Carmen Gonzales Recto, passed away last Saturday in Cambodia, according to information reaching the senator's office. She was 72.

 

A report on GMA News TV's "News To Go" said Mrs. Recto died in her sleep while on vacation in Cambodia.

 

The same report said Recto and his family were in Japan when his mother passed away.

 

Elvie Liwanag, Recto's media relations officer, said the senator and his family are already en route to the Philippines. 

 

She added that based on information she received, Mrs. Recto's remains willl be brought back to the Philippines on Tuesday.

 

The senator yet to issue any statement on the matter as of posting time.

 

Mrs. Recto is the wife of the late assemblyman Rafael "Raffy" Recto, who passed away in 2008 due to multiple organ failure. — Andreo Calonzo/RSJ, GMA News
