PDEA warns public vs new shabu-ecstacy blend

A new and potentially deadlier variant of the "ecstasy" drug is being sold in the party circuit, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency warned over the weekend.

The variant dubbed "Fly High" mainly targeting party-goers contains methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu), radio dzBB reported Friday.

PDEA head Arturo Cacdac Jr. was quoted in the report as saying the drug comes in colorful capsules.

He said they discovered the new blend during an analysis of drugs seized in a sting operation in Quezon City last week.

Cacdac cited reports reaching him indicating the new blend is popular in some clubs.

Initial information also showed those making the drug import the ingredients from parts of Southeast Asia, he added. — LBG, GMA News
