Some banks release veterans' pensions early


At least nine banks have committed to release veterans' pensions earlier than the usual schedule.

An article posted on the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) Facebook account indicated that some of the pension-servicing banks paid their veteran members as early as December 11.

Also, the PVAO article indicated that the usual dates for pensions releases were supposed to be on the 17th or 20th  or 25th of December.

The early schedule of pension releases are as follows:

Composite Wing Savings and Loan Association Inc. (CWSLAI)
Armed Forces and Police Savings & Loan Association (AFPSLAI)

United Coconut Planters Bank (UCPB)
Landbank of the Philippines (LBP)  
Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB)
Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP)
Asia United Bank (AUB)

Earlier, the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) gave 238,490 each active pensioners a cash gift, along with their monthly benefits.

A total of P2.1 billion was given to members who have been receiving their regular monthly pension for at least five years.

Members receiving the cash gift for the first time will receive an amount not exceeding P10,000; while old timers may get up to P12,600 each. — Rie Takumi /LBG, GMA News
