PRC: 1,707 pass electronics engineer board exam; Mapua, UP are lead schools


The Philippines' new batch of electronics engineers  are 1,707-strong, the Professional Regulation Commission said late Wednesday as it also revealed that the University of the Philippines – Diliman and the Mapua Institute of Technology – Manila were the schools with the most number of successful examinees.

In a statement emailed to news organizations, the PRC said the 1,707 passers were from the batch of 4,947 examinees. The passing rate for the whole batch is 34.5 percent.
 
An alumnus of the De La Salle University – Dasmariñas, Jan Paolo Bersalona Go, earned the highest rating in the examination. Go got a mark of 88.90 percent, to surge ahead of Kevin Guiang Tolentino of the University of Santo Tomas (87.80 percent) and Vincenzo Liu Lao of the Ateneo de davao University (87.60 percent).
 
Kristine de la Cruz Villaraza of the Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges – Naga earned an 86.70 percent rating to slip past Mapua's Richard Gocheng Escoto (86.40 percent).
 
Mapua had 55 examinees and 49 of them passed to give their alma mater an institutional passing percentage score of 89.09 percent.

UP Diliman had 30 examinees and 29 of them hurdled the examination to collectively earn for their school a 96.67 passing percentage.
 
The date and venue of the successful examinees' oathtaking ceremony “will be announced later", the PRC said.  — ELR, GMA News
