Glow-in-the-dark stamps mark parks devt body's 50th anniversary
Stamps with glow-in-the-dark ink mark the 50th anniversary of the National Parks Development Committee, the Philippine Postal Corp. said Monday in a post on its website.
PhlPost said it started issuing the P20-denomination stamps last Dec. 5, and will continue selling them until Dec. 4, 2014.
The stamp features the photo of the Musical Dancing Fountain at Rizal Park in Manila.
NPDC, which is responsible for the Rizal Park, Paco Park, Pook Olivia De Salamanca, Mabini Shrine, Pook ni Maria Makiling Park, and Burnham Park, was established on Jan. 14, 1963.
PhlPost said Luneta serves as a living memorial to the martyrdom of Philippine national hero Dr. Jose Rizal, and now features an open-air theater presentation that features a 30-minute dramatization of Rizal’s final hours.
The NPDC also stages the "Concert at the Park" as a weekly public service, to "initiate the masses into the appreciation of classics."
"Ballet at the Park" is another cultural fare in Rizal Park, which is held every Saturday at 5 p.m.
Meanwhile, "Paco Park Presents" is a musical presentation at 6 p.m. Fridays at Paco Park.
PhlPost also released stamps marking the 50th anniversary of the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp.
The P10-denomination stamps were first issued Dec. 5, and depict "children saving money" along with the logo of PDIC 50 years. — ELR, GMA News
