NBI to unmask three other Vhong Navarro ‘attackers’

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is now in the process of identifying the three other personalities involved in last week's mauling of TV host-actor Vhong Navarro inside a condominium unit in Taguig City.

As of posting time, NBI agents were on their way to the hospital where Navarro is confined to show him pictures of several people including those allegedly present when he was mauled.

“We want Vhong Navarro to identify itong mga tao, kung sila ba ay kasama nung gabing yun. We want to make sure na itong mga ibinibigay na pangalan [ay] kasama talaga sa grupo ni Cedric Lee,” Vicente de  Guzman III, head of NBI-National Capital Region, told reporters Thursday.

Lee allegedly led the attack on Navarro, which happened at the condominium unit of model Deniece Cornejo, a mutual friend. The two, along with several others, have been named respondents in a complaint filed by Navarro's camp.

The NBI said once they identify the three, they will forward the information to the Department of Justice, which is now handling the complaint filed by Navarro.

Zimmer Raz

Meanwhile, the NBI on Thursday morning served a subpoena to Zimmer Raz, an alleged martial arts expert who was with Lee when Navarro was mauled.

There was initially no response when the agents knocked at the house of Raz in Tambo, Parañaque, so they asked barangay officials to serve the subpoena when Raz arrives home.

The NBI  agents learned that the order directing Raz to appear before their office 3 p.m. Thursday was received by the Raz's Joseph.

Security guard subpoenaed

The NBI also sent a subpoena against the security guard who was present when Deniece Cornejo went out of the condominium building on the night of January 22.

“He appears to guide Ms. Cornejo. We want to talk to him and inquire something. Baka may masabi siya,” said De Guzman.

If the subjects of the subpoena fail to appear NBI, he said it will be up to the DOJ to act against them.

Also in the day, a representative of lawyer Howard Calleja, counsel of Cornejo and Lee, went to the NBI to submit a letter asking for a copy of the record of the case.

Lawyer Arleo Magtibay of Calleja Law Firm met with De Guzman.

In an interview with reporters after the meeting, he said they just want to formally inform the NBI that they are representing the two and they are ready to cooperate. — KBK, GMA News
