Satur finally gets sleep amid tight security at MPD
Twenty-four hours after his forced "joyride," Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo finally got the chance to rest and sleep at the Manila Police District (MPD) headquarters, though under tight guard. Radio dzBB reported Tuesday morning that MPD director Sr. Supt. Danilo Abarzosa ordered Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) members to secure the MPD headquarters during Ocampo's stay. It said Abarzosa ordered the SWAT to be wary of possible attempts to spirit out Ocampo, and to closely inspect all vehicles entering and exiting the MPD headquarters. The report said Ocampo was moved to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) office of the MPD at the ground floor, where he spent the night. With Ocampo was wife Carolina, even as his supporters and colleagues planned daily rallies and vigils at the MPD headquarters. But Ocampo woke up early Tuesday morning to grant radio interviews, where he accused justice secretary Raul Gonzalez and national security adviser Norberto Gonzales of having a hand in his "joyride." "Hindi ito makakaenganyo sa lumalaban sa gobyerno (What happened to me Monday will not convince rebels to come down and return to the mainstream)," he told dzXL radio early Tuesday. Ocampo is expected to stay at the MPD at least until Friday afternoon, when he takes part in oral arguments before the Supreme Court to question an arrest warrant issued against him. The warrant, which stemmed from a multiple murder case dating back to the 1980s, was the basis for Ocampo's arrest last Friday. Only 24 hours earlier, Ocampo was taken on a forced "joyride" when police forced him into his van to take him to Leyte. A judge's order eventually aborted the flight to Leyte. -GMANews.TV
