One-entry, One-exit policy to affect Boracay tourism, says LGU

Beach resort owners in Boracay island in Aklan Wednesday are awaiting the implementation of the “One Entry, One Exit" policy which was expected to be implemented on the world-famous tourist destination this summer. However, local town executives of Malay municipal where Boracay is located, has opposed the said OE, OE policy saying it might adversely affect tourism on the island. The OE, OE policy was approved by the provincial government of Aklan in October 2005 Under the new policy, visitors going to Boracay must pass through the port of Calban in Manuk-manukan village before heading to their choice resorts. Those coming from the ferry port and passenger terminal of Catiklan will likewise have to pass through Calban. Under the OE, OE policy, ferry boats will be prohibited to dock at the three beach stations on Boracay island, GMA7's 24 Oras reported. Report said the provincial government will start implementing the policy on April after the local executives of Malay town failed to obtain a temporary restraining order (TRO) from the court. Authorities in Aklan said the policy would be useful in the implementation of security and monitoring of the tourists who are expected to arrive on the island this summer.-GMANews.TV
