CBCP's Visita Iglesia 2014 website for Pinoy netizens up and running
Filipinos who are abroad or sick and could not physically visit churches this Lenten season – especially during Holy Week – may now have a virtual alternative.
The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines has updated its "Semana Santa" website to offer messages and reflections from Pope Francis and Philippine Catholic church officials.
As of Friday noon, the 2014 edition of the site (visitaiglesia.net/2014) is online, and includes the Lenten messages of the Pope and the CBCP.
It has also been updated to contain feeds from its Facebook accounts.
But there were only four churches featured on the site as of Friday.
Visita Iglesia is a tradition in the Philippines where the faithful will try to visit seven churches or religious sites during Holy Week.
