Members of PMA graduating class express sympathy for Cudia

Some graduating members of Philippine Military Academy Siklab Diwa class of 2014 expressed their sympathy for Aldrin Cudia, their classmate who has been dismissed for violating the academy's honor code.

“Nalulungkot din naman po kami na si Cadet Cudia po natanggal sa academy dahil doon sa kaso niya, pero suportado namin ang Honor Committee,” Cadet First Class Jheorge Llona, batch valedictorian, said.

Cudia was initially dismissed after the PMA's Honor Committee found him guilty of lying about why he was late for a class, an incident that was deemed a violation of the institution's Honor Code.

Cudia was expected to graduate as PMA's top 3 cadet but is now appealing his case so he can participate in the commencement ceremony on Sunday.

But Colonel Rozzano Briguez, PMA's commandant of cadets, clarified in an earlier report that Cudia will not graduate because he failed to go on OJT, or on-the-job training.

Meanwhile, Cadet First Class Billy Codiam, who has taken Cudia's place as the class's third highest ranking cadet, had a message for his dismissed colleague: “Nirerespeto naman namin kung ano yung decision mo o kung ano man yung plano mo but as far as yung class natin yung involved kailangan din namin sumunod sa decision ng higher command.”

Some members of Siklab Diwa admitted they felt sad for Cudia's dismissal but they still wished him success after they leave the academy, the report said.

“Medyo mahirap yung pinagdadaanan niya. There are frustrations. Siguro lang kapit lang tayo sa Diyos,” Cadet First Class Liza Dango, who is also among the class's top 10 cadets, said. — Andrei Medina/JDS, GMA News
