PNP: No discrimination vs gays but...
The Philippine National Police on Thursday said that it will not discriminate against homosexuals entering the police force but added that it will not hesitate to kick them out if they "misbehave." The remark came from PNP spokesman Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao Jr. who said that the PNP hierarchy will not look at its members' sexual preferences but at their conduct. "Ang institution, ang discrimination against third sex, kung ang sexual preference hindi pinapakialaman ng PNP yan. Ang tinitingnan ang kanilang conduct, ang kanilang pagkilos. Kung ito'y within standard wala sigurong problema riyan (As an institution, the PNP does not look at or interfere with one's sexual preferences. But it does look at its members' conduct. If they behave within the norm, I don't think we'll have a problem)," Pagdilao said in an interview on dzXL radio. He added that problems would crop up if PNP members, even if they are not homosexuals, start behaving "outside" the accepted rules of conduct. As an example, Pagdilao said police personnel who sway their hips while marching or those who engage in lustful conduct would be considered as having violated rules of conduct in the police force. "Kung sila kumekembot habang magmamartsa, maybe that's something else. Kung gagawa ka ng kalaswaan I think that will be a ground for separation from the academy (If they sway their hips while marching or if they engage in lustful conduct, I think that will be a ground for separation from the academy)," he said. "If you abide by the standards prescribed for a cadet you won't have a problem for separation," he added. - GMANews.TV
