Hiring ban starts March 30, Comelec reminds govt offices
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reminded government offices Tuesday the appointment or hiring of new employees in any government offices will be prohibited starting March 30. Sun-Star Iloilo (www.sunstar.com.ph) reported Tuesday that the ban, contained in Comelec Resolution 7707, will last until Election Day, May 14. It said that during the period, the creation or filling up of new positions and promotion or giving of salary increases or remuneration or privilege to government officials and employees will also he disallowed. The resolution likewise bans the construction of public works, delivery of materials for public works and issuance of treasury warrants or similar devices for a future undertakings chargeable against public funds. Also banned during the period are releases, disbursements or expenditures of public funds public works, social services and development. On the other hand, those who wish to run for Congress and other local positions will only have until March 29 to file their certificates of candidacy (COC) before the Comelec while they are allowed to campaign from March 30 to May 12. - GMANews.TV
