OsMak: Napoles may leave hospital any time; extension of stay up to court

The Ospital ng Makati on Friday reiterated that the alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles may leave anytime after executing a promissory note for her unpaid bills.

In a statement posted Thursday evening on the Makati City government's Twitter account, OsMak Director Dr. Perry Peralta said they have already coordinated with the Philippine National Police and "informed [it] they can pull out Mrs. Napoles anytime."

Also, he said any extension on Napoles' stay in the hospital will be up to the court.

Napoles underwent a total hysterectomy on April 23 after being diagnosed with severe adenomyosis (or cyst) of the uterus with multiple adenomyomata.

She was cleared to leave the hospital on May 5, but has remained there—partly due to her unpaid hospital bills.

On May 7, Napoles' camp asked a Makati court to allow the controversial businesswoman to either stay longer at OsMak or be transferred to a home care institution to facilitate her speedy recovery from surgery.

However, Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150 Judge Elmo Alameda, who was expected to make his decision at the May 14 hearing, dismissed the court without ruling on the motion. A new hearing was scheduled for May 20. — Amanda Fernandez/LBG/KG, GMA News
