Grade schools and high schools still start school in June
Despite some universities changing their academic calendars, both public and private high schools will maintain their June to March calendars. According to the Department of Education's (DepEd) order no. 18. s. 2014, issued March 28, the school year (SY) 2014 to 2015 will begin on June 2. It will then end on March 27, and will consist of 201 days. There will be eight regular and special non-working holidays during the school year. While Republic Act (RA) No. 7797 states that private school may start school sometime between the first Monday of June and the last day of August, prominent private schools around Metro Manila have chosen to start on June. Some of these schools are: Ateneo Grade School: Grade 1 to 4 - June 9 Grade 5 to 7 - June 10 Grade 8 - June 11 Ateneo High School: Grade 9 - June 4 Grade 10 to 12 - June 9 De La Salle Zobel: Grades 1 to High School ,- June 10 Miriam College: Grade 1 to 3, 6 - June 13 Grade 4, 5, 7, and 8 - June 16 Grade 9 - June 18 Grade 10 to 12 - June 19 OB Montessori: Primary school - June 17 Intermediate to high school - June 16 Philippine Science High School: Grade 7 - June 16 Grade 8 to 12 - June 23 University of the Philippines Integrated School: Grades 1 to High School ,- June 3 The University of the Philippines Board of Regents had earlier approved the shift in the academic calendar of the Diliman campus, from June-May to August-July.
