PNoy appoints 22 new judges in Central Luzon
President Benigno Aquino III has appointed 23 new judges in the Central Luzon provinces of Bulacan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, Zambales, Pampanga and Bataan.
Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. informed Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno about the appointment through a one-page transmittal letter.
"I am pleased to transmit herewith the appointment letters of the following signed by His Excellency, President Benigno S. Aquino III," read the letter signed by Ochoa.
The new appointees in the Regional Trial Courts (RTC) are:
- Judge Gorgonio B. Elarmo of RTC Branch 77, Malolos, Bulacan;
- Judge Marion Jacqueline Pallera Poblete of RTC Branch 3, Balanga, Bataan;
- Judge Amelita Cruz Corpuz of RTC Branch 96, Dinalupihan, Bataan;
- Judge Isidra A. Arganosa-Maniego of RTC Branch 7, Malolos City, Bulacan;
- Judge Efren B. Tienzo of RTC Branch 13, Malolos City, Bulacan;
- Judge Frazierwin V. Viterbo of RTC Branch 33, Guimba, Nueva Ecija.
The second batch of appointees in Nueva Ecija are:
- Judge Roberto Ricardo O. Kanapi of Municipal Trila Court in Cities (MTCC) Branch 2, San Jose City;
- Judge Rachelle De Guzman Ernie of MTCC, Zaragosa;
- Judge Emmanuel S.Paynor of Municipal Trial Court (MTC), San Antonio;
- Judge Jamila del Rosario Cruz-Sarga of MTC, Rizal;
- Judge Kristine Aquino Ferrer of MTC, Lupao;
- Judge Michael Benedick V. Aleta of MTC Pantabangan;
- Judge Ian Ramoso of MTC Talugtog.
Also appointed are Jocelyn P. Gamboa-Delos Santos of MTCC, Branch 4 City of San Fernando, Pampanga; and Judge Vincent E. Lamug of MTC Iba, Zambales.
Other appointees are:
- Judge Mario Pocholo M. Telan of MTC Baliuag, Bulacan;
- Judge Juan G. Ranola Jr. of MTC Hagonoy, Bulacan;
- Judge Maria Cristina C. Botigan-Santos of MTC San Ildefonso, Bulacan;
- Judge Ryan Scott F. Robinos of Municipal Circuit Trial Court (MCTC), Gerona-Ramos-Pura, Tarlac;
- Judge Stanley Marvin J. Pengson of 3rd MCTC, Laur-Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija;
- Judge Julius A. Java of 1st MCTC, Quezon-Licab, Nueva Ecija; and
- Judge Julieta M. Isidro-Reyes of MTC, Dingalan, Aurora.
The appointees were screened by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC), which is constitutionally mandated to vet and create a shortlist of nominees for vacant posts in the judiciary and the Offices of the Ombudsman and Deputy Ombudsman.
The JBC is led by Sereno as ex-officio chair, with two ex-officio members, namely Senator Aquilino Pimentel III and Justice Secretary Leila de Lima.
Completing the JBC are regular members lawyer Jose Mejia representing the academe; retired Court of Appeals Justice Aurora Santiago-Lagman representing the private sector; and lawyer Milagros Fernan-Cayosa from the Integrated Bar of the Philippines. — Mark Merueñas/RSJ, GMA News
