In Malacañang, deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said the Department of Energy is monitoring the situation.

Valte told government-run dzRB radio the power supply is very tight due to the maintenance of power plants.

"Hanggang maiiwasan, mina-manage nila ang supply para maiwasan ang magkaroon ng rotating brownouts," she said.

But she asked the public for understanding and cooperation.

"Pwede we can take small steps conserving energy over the weekend," she said. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
