1 dead, 2 hurt as Typhoon Glenda batters Luzon, Visayas – NDRRMC
A Northern Samar woman was killed while two people from Camarines Sur were injured in the wake of Typhoon Glenda (international name Rammasun), which battered Luzon and the Visayas Tuesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said. In its Tuesday midnight update, the NDRRMC also said 33,802 families or 148,525 people in Mimaropa, the Bicol region and the Eastern Visayas were evacuated from their homes. The NDRRMC identified the fatality as Lourdes Ongray Lim, 25, of Allen in Northern Samar. She was killed by a falling electric post. Injured were Antonio Habana, 16 (Brgy. Nato, Sangay, Camarines Sur), who was electrocuted and taken to the Bicol Medical Center; and Jesus Vargas, 84, also of Sangay, who was electrocuted as well. The NDRRMC also reported a collapsed barrier along the Dario Creek and Shorthorn Avenue in Quezon City. Families in the area were evacuated to a multipurpose court in Mendoza Village, Barangay Sangandaan. As of 8 p.m., Tuesday, 6,064 passengers, 46 vessels, 600 rolling cargos, 17 motor bancas, 31 vessels and motor bancas took shelter and are stranded. Several roads in Leyte were impassable due to flooding. These were:
- Calubian-Tabango-Villaba-Palompon Road, Km 1030+100-1039
- Sto. Rosario-Villaba Road, Brgy. Hibulangan Km 1005+000+1008+000, 1-meter high water
- La Paz-Javier-Bito Road, hardly passable to light vehicles due to flood
- Jaro-Dagami-Burauen-La Laz Road at Km 950 Brgy Tingib, Pastrana Spillway, not passable.
