Queen Elizabeth condoles with RP stampede victims

The British Embassy in Manila on Monday conveyed to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo the condolences of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth to the families of the casualties of the PhilSports Arena stampede that killed 74 people on February 4. British Ambassador to the Philippines Peter Beckingham wrote in a letter to Arroyo dated February 9 that Her Majesty The Queen asked him to convey the following message to the Chief Executive: “I was saddened to hear of the tragic loss of life during the accident at PhilSports Arena. I send my sincere condolences to the families who had lost loved ones. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time—Elizabeth R." It was the latest letter of sympathy to be received by Mrs. Arroyo, who had been sent similar messages by personalities around the world, including Pope Benedict XVI.-GMANEWS.TV
