Warning out vs. fake military chaplain
Military Bishop Leopoldo Tumulak on Thursday cautioned the public against a fake priest going around the country and asking for money in exchange for celebrating Mass.
In an article on the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines news site, Tumulak identified the fake priest as Crisanto Bantigue.
The CBCP cited a circular by Tumulak dated Sept. 3, urging his bishops and priests to call the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines Chancery at 911-5666 if they need "further clarification."
Citing reports reaching him, Tumulak said Bantigue is introducing himself as a military chaplain or monsignor.
He added Bantigue has reportedly been going around the country using the diocese’s name to ask for money. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
